Description

The course applies planning and controlling concepts to increase the value of the supply chain. Students learn to evaluate and improve processes. Other topics include process selection, process design, theory of constraints, project implementation, capacity planning, lean production, facility location, and business forecasting.

Course Student Learning Outcomes

1.1 Design flowcharts and metrics to measure and improve process performance.

1.2 Identify factors that affect process development.

1.3 Differentiate between manufacturing and service processes.

2.1 Design efficient and effective processes.

2.2 Apply learning curve theory to increase individual and organizational performance.

2.3 Evaluate a process by applying statistical process control techniques.

2.4 Design supply chains to increase effectiveness.

3.1 Evaluate different inventory models and performance of supply chains.

3.2 Analyze scheduling and controlling techniques.

3.3 Apply Goldratt’s theory of constraints to identify and overcome process bottlenecks.

3.4 Apply lean production principles to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of supply chains.

4.1 Explain types and phases of project management.

4.2 Develop project management plans.

5.1 Apply forecasting concepts to process analysis.

5.2 Apply Sales and Operations Planning techniques to minimize the cost of resources to meet demand.

5.3 Design a Material Requirements Plan (MRP) in context of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) Process.

6.1 Analyze the factors that affect sourcing, logistics, and facility location choices.
