Online Site Visit Report – research report

How to write your site visit report:  When watching the service online, think of yourself as a “participant observer.” Remember that you report only what you observe. Avoid evaluation.  AVOID COMPARISON.  In order to make a fair and accurate comparison between your own religion and others, you need to have the same amount of knowledge for and familiarity with both of them.  FOCUS ON WHAT YOU HAVE OBSERVED.  DO NOT evaluate but describe their services.
Include as much of the following information as is possible and relevant to your particular visit online: (1) Identification of your own religious affiliation or background in the first sentence. (2) Webpage Address (URL) or link to the video (3) Time and date of your watching the video online (4) Name which religious service you viewed.  Be sure to identify the specific religious tradition if this is not indicated in the name. (5) A brief description of the building/worship facility/sanctuary and any distinctive symbols, furnishings, decorations, etc.  (6) length of the service. (7) Description of the officiant, including his or her dress and role.  How does she or he lead?  What does she or he do?  (8) Description of the service including scripture readings, prayers, singing, instrumental music, chanting, the sermon, the lecture, congregational participation, use of fire, water, incense.  Be sure your report is written with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  Proofread carefully.  Your grade will be based on content (completeness, accuracy, etc.) and form (correct English, neatness, etc.) per the guideline.
