Melnyk and Fineout-Overhold (2015) discuss Lincoln and Gubras criteria for evaluating trustworthiness criteria as credibility, dependability, transferability and confirmability. Foster and Shurtz (2013) established credibility in discussion of their research questions, discussion of databases used, and member checks. Foster and Shurtz (2013) did discuss the use of the CASE worksheet and effectiveness for researchers to guide them which meets transferability. Dependability as defined by Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2015) documenting how the research concluded and if under similar condition you would get the same results. This article did discuss how the research was done and their conclusion but they also admitted there some limitations in evaluators opinions. Foster and Shurtz (2013) confirmed confirmability in their study that CASE work sheet was an effective tool however they do admit further studies should be done due inconsistencies with how user friendly the checklist is.
